| About Us Mystic Clothing is based in Palm Coast, Florida which is about an hour drive from
Jacksonville.
Mystic is a family business and despite our rapid growth, we have
remained loyal to our original hallmarks: Quality, Value, Ease of
Ordering, and Integrity.
Quality
We make no secret about where the styles we are selling come from. When
introducing a new style, we normally ask ourselves, "Who is the best
known retailer for this particular style, at this point in time?" Once
we find our answer, we purchase a sample and have it meticulously
analyzed. We analyze the fabric, the dyeing, the cutting and the
stitching. We then ask ourselves honestly, "Can we offer a similar
garment for an affordable price to our customers?"
If the answer is "no," then we start over again. But most of the time,
we find that there is nothing inherently special about name brand
garments; that is, except for the name brand itself. : )
So, although we do have some original designs of our own, most of our
clothing selections closely parallel the style and fabrics found in many
designer name brands like GAP, Old Navy, LL Bean, Victoria Secret and
Macy's.
Value
2 + 2 = 4 Math is easy.
Math through the eyes of a Name Brand: $8 (garment) + $2 (shipping) +
$20 (advertising) + $20 (administration) = $50; sell it for $60 and Net
$10.
Math through the eyes of Mystic: $8 (garment) + ($2 shipping) + $5
(advertising) + $5 (administration) = $20, sell it for $25 and Net $5.
This is how we offer our customers high quality garments for 60% off the
average retail sales price.
Ease
From our online auctions to our easy-to-use website, we offer the
comfort of shopping from home with quick and secure delivery to your
door. No long lines, no need to pay for gas driving to the store, no
searching endlessly for the right style or size. We've tried really hard
to make our full product range very straight-forward and easy to
understand, and we're sure you'll be able to see that as you navigate
through our site.
Integrity
Life is not always economical. However, most of our future will be
shaped by the economic decisions of the corporate elite and the
politicians they sponsor. The American and European employment landscape
is changing rapidly because of this fact. Manufacturing and, more
recently, administration jobs as well, are quickly being relocated to
cheaper labor markets. In other words, big business has shaped the rules
of free trade to exploit poor nations. It's no secret that more than
half of every consumer purchase you make this year will be that of a
product made in China or another developing country.
This is neither right, nor wrong. However, the disregard and plain
disinterest some corporations have for the workers and communities that
helped them grow is certainly another story. What is unfortunate is that
many people have come to look upon China and India with disgust because
it is they who are 'stealing' American and European jobs. This could not
be further from the reality. In Asia, these people are our brothers and
sisters and also share the many hardships of constant economic
insecurity.
Many factory workers push on through the cold winter months with little
or no heat in the workplace, and the conditions are no less forgiving
when summer comes and workers toil endlessly in the high heat. Much of
the labor force is young, and especially in the garment industry, mostly
female. These young girls are usually from small villages that are able
to get by on what they have, but nothing more. In time, the promise of
money and added security lures these girls to the cities and separates
them from their parents (and often their newborn babies as well). Once
in the factory, the girls quickly learn that it's not all fun and games,
but truly difficult and tiring work. But there is no turning back for
most of the workers, whose families now depend on them for constant
income. This situation is a breeding ground for factory owners who are
quick to exploit young labor to increase their own profits and economic
security.
Mystic buys from factories in two main countries: Thailand and China.
One of the partners from Mystic actually lives in Asia and works closely
with the factories making Mystic's clothing. Therefore, we absolutely
guarantee that no worker was exploited or treated unfairly in the making
of our clothing. Many of the factory owners have become good friends of
ours, are very kind people, and (as far as we can see) treat their
workers with all the kindness and temperament a good employer could
offer his or her employees.
During the year 2008, we will be implementing a program whereby a
certain percentage of every dollar of our profits will be donated
directly to the young men and women who make the garments we sell. This
donation will be delivered to the workers annually just prior to their
holiday vacation.
We are also busy working to implement a link whereby you can choose to
make a donation (if you wish) directly to the workers who actually make
our garments. |
